Plenary Session 4: Closing of the resumed second session of the United Nations Habitat Assembly.

The resumed second session of the United Nations Habitat Assembly will take place from 29 to 30 May 2025 at the  UN-Habitat Headquarters  in Nairobi, Kenya. Agenda item 4: Report of Bureau on credentials. Agenda item 5: Election of members of the Executive Board. The  United Nations Habitat Assembly  is a universal body composed of the 193 Member States of the United Nations. It serves as the main legislative body for global urban policy-making and is the highest decision-making authority on housing, urbanization and human settlements. At its second session, held in Nairobi in June 2023, the United Nations Habitat Assembly adopted several key resolutions – including on  adequate housing for all,  the transformation of  informal settlements  and  slums , and guidelines on  people-centred smart cities . Press briefing: Establishing social housing and cooperation hubs to connect the Global North and South.

  The resumed second session of the United Nations Habitat Assembly will take place from 29 to 30 May 2025 at the UN-Habitat Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. The event will be a signing ceremony of letters of intent to strengthen global cooperation on social housing and the provision of affordable and adequate housing for all. The first agreement, between UN-Habitat, the City of Paris, represented by the Executive Director of UN-Habitat and the Mayor of Paris, and the City of Nairobi, represented by the Governor of Nairobi, establishes a Social Housing Hub to connect the global North and South—advancing innovative, inclusive, and community-driven solutions to housing challenges. The second agreement, between UN-Habitat and the Government of France, sets up a Cooperation Hub focused on promoting sustainable social housing globally. Briefing on Urban Climate and Environment: Milestones for 2025 and beyond.

The resumed second session of the United Nations Habitat Assembly will take place from 29 to 30 May 2025 at the UN-Habitat Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. In the lead-up to COP30 (November 2025) and WUF13 in (May 2026), UN-Habitat and partners will hold a briefing on major urban climate and environment milestones.
