Housing is more than a roof over one's head—it is the foundation of human dignity, well-being and opportunity. Yet 3.4 billion people worldwide lack adequate housing while climate change conflict and rapid urbanization continue to deepen the global housing crisis. This event reframes SDG 11.1 as a question of dignity and a fundamental human right bringing together leaders from government communities innovation and youth to explore people-centered solutions for adequate housing for all. This event will highlight the scale and impact of the housing crisis and inspire urgent collective action to ensure everyone everywhere has a place to call home. The Global Digital Compact (GDC), adopted by Member States in September 2024, marked a landmark moment in digital cooperation. Negotiated by 193 Member States and informed by global consultations, the Compact commits governments to upholding international law and human rights online and to taking concrete steps to make the digital space safe and secure.
